- The Via Traiana Calabra: The Via Traiana Calabra was the extension connecting Brundisium with Hydruntum. The road began to gain greater importance during Late Antiquity, when, following the political upheavals that accompanied the gradual fall of the Roman Empire and the subsequent Byzantine control of the area, the city of Otranto became increasingly significant.
- The Cammino di Leuca: A walking route from Lecce to the white town of Leuca, once home to a Roman temple dedicated to Minerva and now a destination for pilgrims travelling to the Basilica Sanctuary of Santa Maria de Finibus Terrae. The route comprises 4 stages and covers 90 km through timeless places and villages steeped in Mediterranean culture and history.
- The Via Sallentina: A walking route retracing an ancient pre-Roman road along Salento’s Ionian coast. Its 160 km cross the land of the Messapians, where numerous traces of their ancient civilisation can still be seen, including megalithic walls, ancient cart tracks, necropolises and towns.
- The Via Ionica: An ambitious walking route connecting the lands of Magna Graecia and the landing places of the ancient Mediterranean. In Puglia, it extends for 215 km along the Ionian coast, one of the region’s most enchanting areas thanks to its extraordinary concentration of natural, scenic, historical and archaeological treasures.
- Don Tonino Bello’s Way: Promoted by the Diocese of Molfetta–Ruvo–Giovinazzo–Terlizzi, the route known as “Don Tonino Bello’s Way” was created to promote awareness of the Salento-born bishop by retracing the key stages of his life throughout Puglia.
- Two other routes include “The Carnation Way”, which crosses the municipalities of Squinzano, Trepuzzi, Novoli, Carmiano, Copertino, Nardò and Galatone, and “Peter’s Way”, which begins in the municipality of Castrignano del Capo, passing through Santa Maria di Leuca, Salignano and Giuliano di Lecce, before continuing to Otranto and Galatina and ending in San Pietro in Lama.
