📌 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗢𝗧𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗣𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗣𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗦
ℹ️ An initiative organised by the 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲̀𝘀 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, with the patronage and support of the 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗲.
🏺 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧? An excursion along the bottom of two small canyons, 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗻𝗼, and across the ridge of 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮 𝗱𝗶 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗶, in a unique landscape rich in sites of historical, archaeological, architectural, botanical, geological and environmental interest.
🐘 𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗣𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘. The walk also includes a visit to this extraordinary natural phenomenon, visible just a short distance from the medieval frescoed Crypt of San Pantaleone, at the bottom of Canale Fano. It was created by an invasive exotic plant which, thriving thanks to the presence of spring water, has completely enveloped and covered olive trees that had dried out following the spread of Xylella.
👟 𝗛𝗢𝗪? Participants will travel by car to the starting point of the walk and continue on foot for the entire route.
⚠️ 𝗗𝗜𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗬? The route covers approximately 5.5 km. The excursion follows a mixture of T-grade tourist paths and E-grade hiking trails, lasts approximately 3 hours and includes gentle changes in elevation. It is suitable for everyone aged 8 and over, although a basic level of walking fitness is recommended.

❗ 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 Wear closed shoes, either trainers or hiking shoes, and preferably long trousers. Bring sufficient drinking water and, where appropriate, sugary snacks and mosquito repellent to use if required.

🏺 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓? The tour includes visits to a pajara, a traditional Salento dry-stone building, with an oven; a threshing floor; a burial-mound necropolis dating from the 4th–3rd millennium BC; a dolmen dating from the 2nd millennium BC; a prehistoric cave inhabited from approximately 75,000 years ago; the external sinkhole of a natural swallow hole known as Grotta delle Fate; a small man-made cavity featuring medieval carvings; and an 18th-century masseria.
🚗 𝐇𝐎𝐖? Participants will travel between the various stops in their own vehicles.
🌍 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄? In the Salve area, in the countryside immediately inland from Pescoluse.
