The Apulian Aqueduct Cycle Route follows the path of the historic aqueduct, beginning at the springs of Caposele in Campania, crossing Basilicata and Puglia, and continuing all the way to Santa Maria di Leuca, at the southernmost tip of Salento.

At the heart of the route lies the Apulian Aqueduct Greenway, stretching for more than 230 kilometres along the old service roads of the aqueduct. Here, cyclists can ride surrounded by nature, often far from traffic, passing centuries-old olive groves, dry-stone walls, traditional farmhouses, and small villages where time seems to move at a slower pace.

Along the way, the route features aqueduct bridges, historic drinking fountains, old road workers’ houses, and numerous structures that tell the story of one of Europe’s most important hydraulic engineering projects, as well as the deep connection between water and this land.

The Greenway is ideal both for those wishing to embark on a long-distance cycling journey and for those who simply want to spend a day discovering Puglia’s inland landscapes. In Salento in particular, it offers a different way to experience the region, following quiet roads through authentic scenery and revealing hidden views far from the best-known tourist routes.
